"The Crackers would be approached by the Sunbelt Baseball League (Collegiate Wooden Bat ) to join the league in 2008. With many independently owned amateur teams finding it hard to maintain a schedule of games and with the rise of Independent League baseball taking the place of many semi-professional franchises across the nation, Meistickle had to make a tough decision. The Crackers accepted the invitation and joined the Atlanta area based, Sunbelt League in 2009."- From the story "The Atlanta Crackers: A Storied History of Excellence on and Off the Field", from Colin Lacy.
The current roster of players come from various collegiate programs from across the country.
The Crackers have won four Sunbelt League crowns. Winning the first in 2013, followed by 2014, 2015, and 2016. Their title in 2016 would be the first time in NACSB (National Alliance of College Summer Baseball) in which one team was crowned champion in four consecutive seasons.
Those teams posted an amazing 9-1 record across 4 different championship series that included an 8 game in a row run that was eventually broken up in a 1-0 loss to the Carrolton Clippers in the 2016 Championship Series. The team would go on and win the next 2 to win their 4th title in a row.
The four Sunbelt League crowns increase the total number of championships to 58 overall spanning semi-pro, and the Sunbelt League.
The 2013 team swept the 6-4-3 Cougars in a best of 3 series to win the 1st SBL Championship since the team joined the league.
The 2014 team would sweep very powerful Phenix City Crawdad team in a best of 5 series to win their 2nd title and go back to back.
The 2015 Championship would be a rematch against the Phenix City Crawdads with similar results. A pitching dominate team swept the Crawdads in a best of 3 series winning it's 3rd title in as many years.
The team would win their 4th title in a row August 4, 2016 against a very good 24 win Carrolton Clipper team. As of the 2021 season, the Crackers are the only team in NACSB (National Alliance of College Summer Baseball) to be crowned champion in 4 consecutive seasons
"Growing Young Men" is one of the mantras of the Crackers since Kevin Meistickle started the organization in 1983. Meistickle takes pride in developing not just baseball players but also mentoring and teaching life lessons to the young men who spend their summers with the team
Meistickle and the coaching staff of the Crackers have helped over 400 players sign with colleges to continue their careers in the college ranks, and over 200 have signed professional contracts. With all of the wins, championships, and accolades the Crackers have picked up over the years, what the Crackers staff have hung their hats on, have been the lives that they’ve touched and the success stories of over 1,300 former Crackers becoming successful in life. One of the tangible ways to see this at work is the fact of over 100 former players have gone on to share their knowledge of the game in the coaching ranks."- updated from the original story "The Atlanta Crackers: A Storied History Of Excellence On And Off The Field", from Colin Lacy, "
On July 26th, 2016, an 11-1 victory for the Crackers in the first round of the 2016 Sunbelt League Playoffs, stood as their historical 1,000th team victory since the rebirth in 1983.
Kevin Meistickle has over 50 years of experience in baseball. He's also surrounded himself with a staff of very capable baseball men who dedicate themselves every Summer to teach and assist the young players who wear the black and orange.
